View the .pdf file for details on this transformer. The 20SX is a modified version of the transformer used in the "2020S Steel-Core Instrument Transformer". It offers the same 1:1 high impedance ratio, but also offers ratios of 1:2, 1:4, and a whopping 1:8 for increased gain and color when used as an interstage transformer. Included here is a 20SX transformer mounted on a small circuit board with adhesive stand-offs. Molex connectors provide eight 6" color-coded wires tied to the transformer pins for easy prototyping. Also available for download are the 3D rendering, footprint, and schematic symbol for KiCad.
The LBA-20SX is a steel-core, multi-use, Hi-Z audio transformer. It's predecessor, the 20SB transformer is used in the 2020S Instrument Transformer product. The 20SX differs only in that it has more features. Like the 20SB before it, 20SX was carefully designed to exhibit a musical balance of sonic coloration and high fidelity. This is a high impedance audio transformer, which is capable of several switchable step-up ratios. These ratios can have a dramatic effect on signal level (A boost with added color) when used as an interstage transformer in Hi-Z circuits, such as vacuum tube electronics. In doing this, several extra features can be gained by the circuit designer, such as signal polarity reversal, ground isolation (when used as an input transformer), and the aforementioned impedance ratio altering switch. When using the 20SX as an interstage transformer, it's recommended to use a decoupling cap to avoid DC saturation of the core. The 20SX comes with PC pins - see documentation below for pin pitch. It is mounted inside a Mu-Metal magnetic shielding can to dramatically reduce external magnetic, electrostatic, and RF noise. This is a unique design on the market, invented and manufactured by Lightning Boy Audio for the advancement of analog tone. It is available for designers and manufacturers of cool stuff.
