Description
The MCX4 features dual input impedances of 150 Ohms and 1.4k Ohms and has an output impedance of 2.8k Ohms and features a gaped core to prevent DC saturation from phantom power. The core is made of a high concentration of nickel in order to provide a wide bandwidth. This high performance transformer has an internal faraday shield between the coils and features a MuMetal shielding can to block outside magnetic interference. This is the input transformer used in the Lightning Boy Audio Super Storm and Dark Storm mic preamps.
The MCX4 was designed as a mic input transformer for low input impedance solid-state circuits. It's dual selectable input impedances of 150 Ohms and 1.4k Ohms allow for user switching to create a more colorful sound (150 Ohms) or a more refined modern sound (1.4k). The transformer has a wide bandwidth beyond the audio band in both directions when the 1.4k ohm input option is used with a microphone. A MuMetal shielding can comes standard with all LBA input transformers in order to protect the integrity of low-level signals from interaction with stray magnetic fields. This transformer can be found in the LBA Super Storm 500 series mic preamp module. As with all LBA transformers, PC pins are standard.
