This is a digital download of LBA house band, Burnt Trace's first single, "Dark of the Storm." This download includes a high resolution 24 bit WAV file from the original Mastering session, along with a credits sheet, the band logo (JPG), and a trailer for the Burnt Trace's music video for Dark of the Storm.

Lead vocals were tracked at Wishbone Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, USA by Engineer & Producer, Grant
Walden. Grant produced the vocals during those tracking sessions. Troy’s lyrics were written by Troy. Stephanie’s lyrics
were written by Stephanie. Mike composed and arranged the music and produced the song at LBA Studios in North
Collins, New York, USA. Josh English composed his own drum part. Drums were recorded at LBA with Mike as the
Recording Engineer.
Mixing of the song was done by Mike at LBA on an AMEK Big 44 console and mixed down to analog tape, where
it was later mastered to digital by Mike.
Tracking Notes:
-Troy & Stephanie’s vocals were recorded with a modded Avantone CV-12 with a Peluso C12 capsule into an LBA Dark
Storm mic preamp.
-Mike’s Backing vocals were recorded with a modded Pearlman TM-1 with a Peluso P-K47 capsule into an LBA Dark
Storm mic preamp.
-Bass was a G&L LB100. The signal was split via an LBA DiVision tube DI Box. The DI Signal went through the DiVision
(XLR out) into an LBA Dark Storm mic preamp. The ¼” (dry) signal went to a 1964 Ampeg B-15NB. The B-15 was mic’d
with a Shure SM7B into an LBA Dark Storm mic preamp.
-Rhythm Guitars were a Gibson SG. That was played through a 4x12 oversized cab with a Splawn Super Sport Tube head
and a fuzz pedal. They were mic’d up with a Royer R121 ribbon mic into an LBA Super Storm mic preamp.
-Lead (synthy guitar during the parts with Troy singing) was probably that same SG, but with a coil tap to access a single
coil pickup. That was played through a crummy bit crusher pedal and into a custom tube amp head made by Mike. The
amp drove a 1x12 cab, which was mic’d up with a Shure Brothers SM57 Unidyne III into an LBA Super Storm preamp.
-Organ was a 1963 Hammond M101 drawbar organ played through a beautiful 1960’s Leslie 147 and mic’d with a pair
of Beyerdynamic MC930’s into a pair of Super Storm mic preamps.
-Theremin was a Moog Etherwave Plus and was played into a 1968 Fender Super Reverb head, which drove a 1x12” cab.
The cab was mic’d with a 1947 RCA MC 6301 Varacoustic ribbon mic into a Super Storm preamp.
-Kick was a 1972 Rogers 14x22” recorded with an EV N/D868 into an LBA Super Storm preamp.
-Snare top was a 5.5x14” Ludwig Black Beauty recorded with a SE Electronics/Rupert Neve Designs RN17 into an LBA
Dark Storm mic preamp.
-Snare bottom was recorded with a Shure Beta 57 into a custom LBA preamp on an AMEK console.
-Rack Toms 1 & 2 were 1972 Rogers drums (8x12”, 9x13”) recorded with Beyerdynamic MC930 mics into LBA Super
Storm preamps.
-Floor Tom was a 1972 Rogers 16x16” recorded with an AKG C414B XLII into a Super Storm.
-Hi-Hats were 14” Meinl Byzance Sand Hats and were recorded with a Beyerdynamic MC930 into an LBA Super Storm
preamp.
-Ride was a 20” Meinl Byzance Sand Ride and was recorded with a Pearlman TM-1 into a custom LBA preamp on the
AMEK Big 44.
-China was a 20” Meinl Byzance Equilibrium China and was recorded with a Pearlman TM-1 into a Super Storm preamp.
-Overhead mics were a pair of Beyerdynamic M160 ribbon mics into Super Storm preamps. The Crash cymbals were a
19” Meinl Byzance Dual Crash 20” Meinl Byzance Traditional Thin Crash.
-Egg Shaker was recorded with a Neumann U87 into an LBA Dark Storm mic preamp.
