Unique in design, the Op-2 Comp is a 100% vacuum tube powered optical compressor pedal. No IC's, PCB's or transistors.  Fast attack with adjustable knee and ratio, and the same auto-release characteristics as the famous LA-2A studio compressor.  Hand wired point-to-point in the USA using only the finest military-grade components.  Engineered to deliver superior tube tone.  Low noise and built tough.  Designed for studio sound quality.

  • Vacuum tube powered optical compressor.
  • Uses the exact same photoresistor as the famous studio compressor, the LA-2A, for that same, much loved, auto-release characteristic.    
  • Super transparent compression.
  • Rev B Update:  Turbo Switch is now the Ratio switch.  When up, the Op-2 is in Limiter mode, down and its in compressor mode.  
  • Ultra low noise, even with the volume and compression at full.  New noise cancelling circuitry with Rev B!
  • New compression meter with Rev B!  What used to be the power indicator light is now the compression indicator.  Lights up when signal crosses threshold.  Brighter when under more compression.  The tube backlights now indicate power-on status.  
  • True studio quality sound in a pedal format. 
  • Made with NOS paper in oil capacitors for liquid smooth tone.
  • True Bypass
  • Switch between soft & hard knee compression slopes.  Soft is a smooth sounding attack, vs. hard, which is a snappier sounding attack.
  • Tubes are shock mounted in our custom suspension tube sockets to minimize microphonic noise and protect the tubes if the pedal takes a fall.  
  • Now comes standard with tube dampers mounted on vacuum tubes.  Reduces microphonic noise. 
  • REV B update:  Now 24V DC powered!  International adapter included!

TECHNICAL DATA:
  • Rev B update:  24VDC @ 170mA minimum, center/tip = positive required for operation.  Adapter now included! 
  • Flat frequency response from 10Hz-14kHz and just -2dB at 25kHz.   
  • Ships installed with a new-old-stock 12AU7 vacuum tube in audio tube socket and a current production 12AU7 tube in the compression tube socket.  The tubes used in this pedal have been meticulously tested and selected for high gain.  Use 12AU7 tubes only.
